Land clearing continues
We continue to cut down the trees that grow in the footprint of the building and runs. We are strategically leaving some for shade and cover. The area is becoming rather large and it is exciting to see. We have a lot of small to medium trees on the ground that will have to be cleaned up... Black Walnut, Ash, and some Maple.
We also have been in contact with the local fire department and hope to have the house burnt down in September. Sad but necessary.
We will reach the goal of Woodland Kennels and Grooming. I am excited at what we will have to offer our guests and customers!
Thanks for all the encouragement and support along this journey......
PS. If you are interested in some hard wood contact me!

Falling Trees, Preparing the land.
The kids playing on the logs after the trees had been felled. Of course Ross has to tease his sister!
This is Tree # 1. I apologize that the video is side ways but I couldn't get the whole tree in the viewer holding the camera horizontally.
This is the Tree #2. Clearing all the Black Walnut trees away from the kennel area. They are messy trees but spectacular in height.

Do not despise these small beginnings....
We have to start somewhere.
I wish we had a "Start Line" like in that car commercial that leads the car seeking man or woman right to the car of their dreams.... Our starting line was a newly purchased 300 foot measuring tape.
In order to begin planning and site design we had to know some of the vital measurements of the land:
There were other questions too but these seemed to be our most urgent ones this evening. So we packed up some flags, spray paint and our "line" and headed out for a planning "meeting" on site.
It rained when we arrived but we were determined to get the needed information....
Does 235 feet into the woods seem far enough? We think so! It is WOODLAND KENNELS AND GROOMING after all!! The building fits just where we had hoped to put it without concern of sap dripped dogs!

In order to begin planning and site design we had to know some of the vital measurements of the land:
How many feet from the driveway to the proposed front entrance?
What does a 32 X 34 foot building look like in the proposed spot?
Would the building and runs fit and still be outside of the Eastern Pine forest? Because we definitely don't want our guests to have dripping sap in their coats.

How are we going to get there from here? Grants, Loans and YOU!
We signed the papers last night and gave the lawyer our check. The new deed will be filed soon!
To celebrate Frank and I went to Geneva, walked through the park and found a bench to sit and talk! He has ideas. I have ideas. These ideas cost money. We both want to do this right! We want to offer you a place to bring your dog that is Welcoming, safe, clean, and affordable.
I (Aaron) am primarily responsible for the business plan and generating capital SOMEHOW! We are appling for grants. We hope to get some funding via that avenue. We will apply for a business loan. We are asking family, friends, and customers to help, through a process called "crowd funding". That is where YOU have the opportunity to be involved with this business. If you want to be part of this at the ground level (literally) and invest along side Frank and I, donations can be made payable to Aaron Pentz and mailed or delivered to:

Closing On Our Property
Next week we close on land that will be the future home of Woodland Kennels and Grooming. It is located on Tug Hollow Road in Burdett, NY, just seconds from our current grooming business. We are in the beginning stages of design and developing a plan to begin building your dog's (and cat's) home away from home. Much of the progress and building schedule will be determined by/when we attain our start up capital.
The goal of this blog is to keep you up to date on that progress and generate excitement for this new venture. I will be posting pictures along the way.

- Salvaging pieces of the abandoned Burge Farmhouse
- Fill the old Burge farmhouse wells
- Control burn the Burge farmhouse
- Clear the land where the footprint of the building will be
- Plan location of utilities such as electric, sewer, and water
- Bring the town water line from the roadside to the future face of the building
